OUR STORY

Built for big dogs, from puppy to senior.

At every market and every show, people ask us the same thing. Never about foam, never about price. Always: how big is he going to get? They have a puppy, a rescue, or a mix nobody can name, and they are about to buy a bed for the dog in front of them instead of the dog he becomes.

WHAT WE FOUND

Orthopedic is a keyword, not a promise.

Before we made anything, we read the one-star reviews on the beds people were already buying. Not the happy ones. The angry ones. The same complaints came back over and over. It flattened. He could feel the floor through it within weeks. The cover would not come off properly, so it could not be washed. It smelled after one accident. He grew out of it in four months. Every one of those is the same complaint wearing different clothes. The word on the box and the thing inside the box were not the same.

There is a reason for that, and nobody mentions it. Orthopedic is not a regulated word for pet products. Nobody has to prove anything to print it on a box. So it goes on shredded filling, on egg-crate foam, on anything soft. We are not going to tell you what is inside somebody else's bed. We will tell you what is inside ours, and you can decide.

And most of it is built for one stage of a dog's life. We wanted one bed that would see a big dog through all of them.

WHAT WE CHANGED

Every decision started as somebody's complaint.

Three layers, not one bag of stuffing. A memory foam top that takes his shape. A cooling gel layer under it. Then a firm base, which is the layer that decides whether he can feel the floor. Three inches of foam on the small sizes, four on the large ones. The whole cover comes off in one piece, bolsters included, and goes in the machine. That one choice answers the most common complaint in the category, because a bed you cannot wash is a bed you throw out. The outer fabric is water-resistant, and a water-protective liner comes in the box to go underneath it. A non-skid backing so it stays put on hard floors. YKK zips, because a broken zip ends the life of a bed. Then we tested samples until one came back right. Designed by us in Kitchener, Ontario, and made to our specification by our manufacturing partner. And the parts most companies leave out. The outer fabric is water-resistant, not waterproof. The liner in the box helps keep spills off the foam, but it is not a sealed barrier either, and you fit it yourself. There are thicker beds than ours, and if foam depth is the only thing you are comparing, buy one of those. And if the bed turns out not to be right, size included, you have 30 nights to try it and 100% of your money back. The sizing help is free too, because getting it right the first time is better for everyone.
